Block Preparation:

The engine is disassembled and the overall condition is assessed. All parts are then hot tanked. The block is bored on precision stand and torque plate honed using a three step process. The block is rinsed and washed. The Federal Mogul cam bearings are installed; the block is shrink wrapped and stored for later assembly.

Short Block Assembly:

The Eagle 4” stroke, 4340 forged steel crankshaft is precision balanced. Diamond Racing Products lite weight forged pistons, 2618 material, are installed on SCAT 6.100” “H” beam connecting rods. Speed Pro “plasma” moly piston rings are file fit to individual bore then installed on the pistons. Federal Mogul aluminum main bearings are installed in the block. The piston/ rod assembly is installed using Federal Mogul aluminum connecting rod bearings. A Competition Cams “Xtreme Energy” cam and adjustable double roller timing set is installed to complete the rotating assembly; camshaft degreed-in to cam card.

Components to Complete Short Block:

A Topline hydraulic roller lifer set is installed during assembly. A high volume (+18%) oil pump is installed. The engine is assembled using Fel Pro engine gaskets.

Cylinder Heads & Valvetrain:

The factory cylinder heads are hot tanked and glass beaded. A competition type valve job is performed; the valve seats are machined with a 4 angle valve job to match the Manley 2.08”/1.60” valves. The valves are back cut to increase air flow. Finally, the cylinder heads are resurfaced. The heads are assembled using Comp Cams “Beehive” valve springs and matching retainers during assembly. The Valvetrain is completed using Comp Cams roller rocker arm assembly, including “Pro Magnum” rocker arms, pushrods, studs and pushrod guide plates.

Cylinder Heads Options:
Item/Service: Cost:
Bowl and chamber head porting $650
Fully port cylinder heads
(Typical increases intake flow over 30% and exhaust flow 20%... resulting flow matches that of most ported aftermarket heads)
$1,200
