This engine package offers great flexibility. There are two distinct displacement options (355 or 383) as well as significant flexibility in power level.

Block preparation:

The block is stripped and hot tanked. The block is then bored on precision stand & 2 step torque plate honing process is performed using a torque plate and the main caps fastened in place using ARP main studs. The block is cleaned and Federal Mogul cam bearings/core plugs are installed. Finally, the block is shrink wrapped until final assembly.

 

Short Block Assembly:

In 350, Speed Pro Hypereutectic pistons and Speed Pro moly rings installed on SCAT "I" beam connecting rods; in 383 package, Diamond Racing Products forged, 2618 aluminum pistons and Speed Pro "Plasma" 1/16" piston rings are installed on SCAT 3/8" cap screw "I" beam connecting rods. On 350 short blocks, the crankshaft is precision ground. On 383 short blocks, a new cast steel SCAT crankshaft is used. Rotating assembly precision balanced.

During final assembly, Federal Mogul 3/4 groove aluminum main bearing and aluminum connecting rod bearings are installed. The Competition Cams hydraulic camshaft (several choices available) is installed and Degree in utilizing a Speed Pro HD (.250" roller) double roller timing set.

To complete the full engine assembly, Sealed Power performance hydraulic lifters are used as well as a high volume oil pump w/new pick up and HD drive shaft.
Fel Pro full engine gasket set used in assembly.

 

Components to complete Assembly:

A Mellings high volume oil pump is installed along with a Moroso bolt-on oil pump pick-up. Topline hydraulic lifers installed. Engine assembled using a Fel Pro full engine gasket set. SFI approved damper installed.

 

Cylinder Heads & Valvetrain:

World Products "Sportsman II" cast iron cylinder heads (200cc) on 350 engine and "Motown" (220cc) installed on 383. Heads assembled with 2.02" (350) or 2.055" (383)/1.6" Manley stainless steel valves, hardened keepers, chromoly retainers, LT1 valve springs (350) or dual springs (383). Comp Cams roller tip rocker arms (1.52:1 ratio in 350, 1.6:1 ration in 383), screw in studs (3/8" 350, 7/16" 383) & guide plates. Hardened pushrods.
